Ambassador Korkut Tufan began his role as the Consul General of Republic of Türkiye in London on September 15, 2024. He was born in Istanbul in 1968. He completed his undergraduate studies in 1992 at Ankara University, Faculty of Political Sciences, Department of International Relations.

Starting his career at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1992, Consul General Ambassador Tufan has held various positions within the Ministry’s central organization, including at the Personnel Department, the NATO and Political and Administrative Affairs Department, the Deputy Directorate General for Central Asia, the Deputy Directorate General of Protocol, the Deputy Directorate General for Political and Economic Affairs of the European Union, and the Deputy Directorate General for the Balkans.

Additionally, between 1995 and 1997, he served as a Third Secretary at the Embassy of Republic of Türkiye in Dakar, and between 1997 and 1999, he worked as a Second Secretary at the Permanent Mission of Republic of Türkiye to the United Nations Office in Geneva. From 2003 to 2007, he served as Counsellor at the Turkish Embassy in Tunis, and between 2009 and 2012, he held the position of First Counsellor at the Turkish Embassy in Brussels. He was appointed Consul General of Republic of Türkiye in Nantes between 2012 and 2015.

In 2015, Tufan was appointed as the Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Ouagadougou and completed his term in 2017. In 2018, he served as the Special Representative for the Somalia-Somaliland Talks, and between 2019 and 2020, he was the Turkish Consul General in Antwerp.

Consul General Ambassador Tufan is married and has two children.
