Press Release Regarding the “Parliamentary Elections” to Be Held in Nagorno-Karabakh on 3 May 2015

Republic Of Türkiye Ministry Of Foreign Affairs 30.04.2015

No: 138, 30 April 2015

We have learned that the so-called “parliamentary” elections will be held on 3 May 2015 in Nagorno-Karabakh, which has been under the occupation of Armenia for more than 20 years.

It is obvious that these elections, which constitute a clear breach of the principles of international law, UN Security Council resolutions and the principles of the OSCE, is an attempt to hamper the efforts to bring a lasting solution to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict through peaceful means.

We condemn this action, which will constitute a new violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and we do not recognize the results of these illegitimate elections.

As a member of the Minsk Group, Turkey will continue to support the efforts to find a just and lasting solution to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
